I Make Words Work for You

Me write good. Had ya goin’ there, didn’t I? Eh? Right?…ahem.

No more tomfoolery. It’s a proven fact that I have writing skills that would have made Shakespeare blush. That’s not me talking. That’s science! (Didn’t I say no more tomfoolery?… crap)

But seriously ladies and germs, I have an impressive history of producing some fine written content. I’ve written in a variety of capacities: corporate communications, marketing (including email), social media, newsletter, digital signage, and copywriting.

A Gift for Storytelling
The reason I kick butt at writing? I love telling stories. No matter how dry or plain vanilla a subject might be, there’s almost always a story to tell. If you can tell it properly, there’s an extraordinary connection to be made with your audience. Once you’ve captured their attention, they’ll listen to you again and again.

Don’t think you have a compelling story? We’ll see about that

I’ll Be Your Writer or Your Coach
An ever-increasing number of small business owners and entrepreneurs are realizing the value of being able to write copy. After all, if anyone can tell your story, it’s you. But maybe writing doesn’t come naturally to you. You have a business to run, after all. So maybe you need a little critiquing and coaching with your scribes.

I’ll provide the guidance you can use to develop your writing and eventually create personalized, persuasive content quickly. Or… I can just write what you need for you! Whichever you feel more comfortable with, it’s A-OK with me!

Let’s Get Down to Brass Tacks… Why Should You Trust that I Know What the Heck I’m Talking About?
I have almost 20 years of writing experience under my belt in a number of positions that demanded a plethora of styles.

Gettin’ My Don Draper On
I think one of my greatest gifts is writing in different voices – my stint as a copywriter for QVC gave me a lot of practice at that. Jewelry, fashion, cookware, electronics, I wrote for a variety of products in diverse ways to many types of target customers. Whether longer or shorter prose, I adapt masterfully to the needs of my client and the expectations of the customer.

Going Corporate
After email copywriting, I moved on to internal communications… employee engagement, if you will (will you?). While I thought there was little to transfer from sales copy to corporate communications, oh how wrong I was. To the contrary, you’re trying to “sell” the company message to staff members. You want them to buy in to the mission, vision, and values. If you pitch it the right way, you have an engaged audience who will become an internal and external advocate for the organization.

The sales aspect of corporate communications is real, and it taught me that the power of words can truly inspire an audience to think, feel, know, and do what you need. Give them a compelling message, and you can achieve a more fulfilled life for them and you.

Freelancin’ Like A Mofo
Over the past few years, I’ve been crafting words for internal and external audiences, but my most fulfilling work has been freelancing, mostly for entrepreneurial clients. These are folks who don’t have a corporate communication department at their disposal, nor the budget to hire a high-priced consultant or vendor to create content. They turned to me because what gets me excited is helping small business owners reach new and current customers in ways that can make the corporate giants take notice.

Sales copy, bio pages, web content… I’m able to create whatever’s necessary to help you connect with the clients who need your products or services.

If you haven’t noticed, I love to inject humor in my writing to grab and keep the audience’s attention. But I have no problem churning out more formal communications. In my time as a corporate communicator, I’ve produced messaging aimed at engaging and inspiring workforce populations. I’ve even ghostwritten for a number of executive leaders.

Casual, corporate… I know the voices and understand the methods that capture whatever audience you need to reach. Let’s astonish Mark Twain and work together to create content that will have your audience wanting to know more about you and how you can solve their problems and improve their lives.
